Atlantic Coast should brace for oil

by admin on July 2nd, 2010

Long term projection maps of the oil spill show a high degree of likelihood that the Atlantic coast of Florida and possibly Georgia will be affected. It also shows a very high probability that oil will reach the environmentally sensitive areas of the Florida keys. The model assumes that oil is released at an average rate of 33,000 barrels per day for 90 days. The model predicts the location of oil after 120 days from the start. However, a projected threat to the shoreline does not necessarily mean that oil will come ashore.
