Beaches closed In Hancock County Mississippi

by admin on July 7th, 2010

Beaches in Waveland and Lakeshore Mississippi as large amounts of tarballs cover the beach to the point that you can’t even walk on it without stepping in oil. Parts of Beach Boulevard which parallels the Beach were also closed as high tide and water cause the Sean and oil to wash over the Road in places. MDEQ say that it will need at least two days to clean up the Beach. But winds will continue to blow oil in to the Mississippi Sound and towards the western part of Mississippi and the Chandeleur islands for at least the next couple days. Also high tides and onshore winds will continue to cause some tidal flooding in low lying areas, which will also cause oil to encroach higher and further than it might otherwise.
