Fishing limited in Escambia County Waters. Pensacola Pier Catch and Release Only.

by admin on June 14th, 2010

Excerpted from thePNJ, Florida has limited much of the waters off Escambia to catch and release fishing, also no crabbing or oystering.

“The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is taking precautionary actions regarding harvest and consumption of these marine species because they could potentially be harmed by oil from the BP Deepwater Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
The closure includes state waters from the beaches out nine nautical miles into the Gulf from the Alabama state line to the Pensacola Beach water tower on Santa Rosa Island.
The Pensacola Beach Gulf Pier remains open for catch-and-release fishing only.

Interior bays and estuaries remain open to fishing.”
