Tar Balls continue to slip into Lake Pontchartrain

by admin on July 7th, 2010

More tar ball washed ashore in St. Tammany Parish this morning as crews continued to try and clean them up. None have yet been found on the Orleans Parish side of the lake, and barges that were set up at the mouth of the lake near the Rigolets are presumably stopping some percentage of the oil from getting in to the lake. A decades long campaign to clean up the lake has left the water much cleaner and fish stocks replenished in recent years. Hopefully the oil will be stopped from entering the lake in any great quantity.
