Transocean safety Bonuses ?!?
In a move that redefines corporate greed and unmasks their contempt for the people of the gulf coast at a time when they are begging to start drilling again, Transocean executive pay committee has awarded bonuses of almost 1 million dollars to five of their top executives due to 2010 being the “best year in safety performance in our company’s history.” Now I don’t know where you work, but when a rig blows up killing 11 people, 9 of which work for Transocean, then that is not a good safety year. That doesn’t account for also destroying the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of people and killing untold wild life. Apparently these bright and promising executives were paid almost 20 million for the great job they did in 2010, including almost 3 million in special retention bonusues to make sure they stayed with the company. Because, you know, every oil company in the world wants these knuckleheads running the show,so we don’t want to lose them. I know we need the jobs that drilling provides in South Louisiana, but our you sure any jobs are worth the danger of letting these people drill in our backyard again ?
